The Mave web application (app.mavejob.com or your Streamlit deployment URL)

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website or use a web application. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide analytical information to site owners.

Cookies are not harmful and do not contain personal information such as your name or payment details. However, some cookies can identify you indirectly when combined with other information we hold about you — these are treated as personal data under UK GDPR.

Similar technologies include:

Local storage and session storage — browser-based key-value stores used by our Streamlit app to maintain session state.
Pixel tags / web beacons — tiny invisible images used by analytics tools to track page views and events.

All references to "cookies" in this policy also cover these similar technologies unless stated otherwise.

3. Legal basis for using cookies

Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), we must have a valid legal basis for placing cookies on your device.

You can withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time. See Section 7 for instructions.

4. Cookies we use

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Mave platform and marketing website to function. Without them, services you have requested — such as signing in or processing a payment — cannot be provided. You cannot opt out of these cookies.

Stripe payment cookies — when you initiate a credit purchase, Stripe may place strictly necessary cookies on your device to process the transaction securely and prevent fraud. These are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy.

4.2 Functional cookies

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalisation. The service will work without them, but some features may be less convenient.

4.3 Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use Mave so we can improve the platform. All data is aggregated and anonymised before we review it. We only place these cookies with your consent.

Google Analytics data is processed on Google's servers. We have configured GA4 with IP anonymisation enabled so your full IP address is never stored. Data is transferred outside the UK under Standard Contractual Clauses. For more information, see Google's privacy policy.

4.4 Marketing and advertising cookies

We do not currently use any marketing, retargeting, or advertising cookies on either the Mave app or the www.mavejob.com marketing website.

5. Third-party cookies

All third-party services we use have been assessed for UK GDPR adequacy or are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms.

6. Cookies on www.mavejob.com

The www.mavejob.com marketing website uses the following cookies in addition to those described above:

No sign-in, Supabase session, or Stripe cookies are placed on the marketing website unless you click a link that takes you to the Mave application.

7. How to manage cookies

7.1 Our cookie banner

When you first visit www.mavejob.com, a cookie consent banner will appear. You can accept or decline analytics cookies. Your choice is saved in the cookie_consent first-party cookie for 12 months, after which you will be prompted again.

To change your consent at any time, click the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of www.mavejob.com.

7.2 Browser settings

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

Delete all or specific cookies
Block cookies from being set
Set preferences for specific websites

Important: Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the Mave app from functioning correctly. In particular, blocking Supabase session cookies will prevent sign-in.

7.3 Google Analytics opt-out

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Edge.

7.4 Withdrawing consent

To withdraw consent for analytics cookies, use the "Cookie settings" link on www.mavejob.com or clear the relevant cookies via your browser settings. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.

8. Data retention

Cookies set by Mave or our third-party partners are retained for the periods stated in the tables above. When a cookie expires, it is deleted automatically by your browser.

Any personal data collected via analytics cookies (aggregated and anonymised) is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our services. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or an in-app notice.
